I’m pretty far from okay

I’m not okay with what happened yesterday. I’m angry, I’m sad, and I’m scared for the future of our country and our democracy.

A seditious insurrection stormed the Capitol in an attempted coup designed the stop the peaceful transfer of power and overthrow our democracy. Nothing about this is acceptable. It’s abjectly deplorable and antithetical to everything for which our country stands.

Nobody should be okay with what happened yesterday.

If you don’t reject what happened without reservation or qualification, please unfollow me.

It’s odd on a business blog to encourage people to unfollow, to risk alienating them and potentially lose business. But here’s the thing. If you and I don’t agree on what happened yesterday we also won’t agree on my employment law advice for your business.

We won’t agree on civil rights for Blacks, women, LGBTQ individuals, and other minorities.

We won’t agree on Covid.

We won’t agree on accommodations for disabled workers.

We won't agree on the importance of paid sick and family leave for workers.

We won’t agree on misclassifying employees to avoid paying overtime.

Heck, we might not even agree that the Earth is round.

So do us both a favor and find yourself a lawyer with whom you align philosophically. You and me, our relationship would be doomed from the start.
