Worst Employer(s) of 2020: The Winners

It brings me tremendous joy to announce the Worst Employer(s) of 2020.

First, the COVID-19 category, which was a very close race, and has, in my opinion, an upset winner.

The COVID-19 Worst Employer of 2020 is: The Working Mom Sacker—the manager who fired a working-from-home mom because her one- and four-year-olds kept interrupting her Zoom conference calls with crying and requests for a snack.

Congrats to all of the other nominees, including SHRM (the Whistleblower Wacker) and Tyson Foods (the Bad Better), which came in a very, very close 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The results in non-COVID-19 category were much more clear.

The landslide winner of the Worst Employer of 2020 is: The Horrific Human Traffickers—the liquor store owners who forced an immigrant to work 15-hour shifts seven days a week for no pay and locked him inside the store overnight to sleep in a storage room and bathe in a mop bucket.

That's a wrap on 2020's contest. For those that did not win this year, remember, there really are no winners, because you're all losers.

I'll be back in a few weeks to start compiling 2021's list of worst employers. If you're making a new year's resolution, a good one to think about is to learn from all of the prior nominees and stay off my list.
