Is LGBT discrimination finally coming to a head?

Two stories this week caught my attention:
The former is a press release from the EEOC, touting a recently filed case in which the EEOC alleges sexual orientation discrimination under Title VII.

The latter is a discussion of the Senate confirmation hearings for the nominations of Janet Dhillon and Daniel M. Gade the serve as EEOC Commissioners, in which they each questioned whether Title VII covers sexual orientation discrimination under its coverage of sex discrimination.

The two opposing views arise in the context of a recently filed appeal asking the U.S. Supreme Court to decide this issue once and for all.

Stay tuned. This issue is certain to heat up over the coming months, as we are set for what may be a final showdown in both the courts and at the EEOC over this critical civil rights issue.
